Miley Cyrus is responding to a lawsuit accusing her of ripping off Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” for her song “Flowers.” According to Entertainment Weekly, the singer has “denied allegations of copyright infringement” and he legal team said an expert needs to review the two songs before an official ruling is made. Cyrus is being sued by Tempo Music Investments, who own a part of the copyright to Mars’ song. The company has pointed out the similarities in court documents and says the opening vocal line from “Flowers” begins and ends on the same chords as the opening vocal line of a verse in “When I Was Your Man.” Mars isn’t named as a plaintiff in the lawsuit against Cyrus and has yet to publicly comment on the matter.
