Deputy Taylor began her career with the Sheriff’s Office on April 1, 2019, as a Communications Officer, where she quickly distinguished herself with her strong work ethic and aptitude for public safety communications. In 2023, she pursued her goal of becoming a law enforcement officer by attending the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, graduating in March 2024. Upon completion of her training, she was assigned to District 7 – Key Largo, where she successfully completed the Field Training Program and was assigned to Ocean Reef.

After reporting to Ocean Reef on April 7, 2025, Deputy Taylor expressed a clear desire to gain field experience and take on the challenges of patrol. Since then, she has exceeded expectations in nearly every measurable category. Between April and June 2025, she consistently outperformed her peers in traffic enforcement, field interviews, and arrests—both physical arrests and notices to appear (NTAs). She has also made numerous proactive contacts with Ocean Reef members and employees, earning high praise for her professionalism and community engagement.

Deputy Taylor’s strong work ethic and positive attitude have not gone unnoticed. I have personally received commendations from homeowners, ORCA staff, Ocean Reef Board Members, and her fellow deputies, all citing her courteous demeanor, professional appearance, and ability to build rapport with residents and colleagues alike. Additionally, input from several District 7 Supervisors confirms that Deputy Taylor consistently remains highly active during her shifts and shows a clear commitment to both community policing and proactive law enforcement.

Patrolling Ocean Reef requires a unique balance—navigating the expectations of an exclusive, close-knit community while simultaneously addressing the broader public safety concerns along Card Sound Road/CR-905. Deputy Taylor performs both roles with skill and grace, demonstrating an exceptional ability to adapt and excel.

It is not often that we have the opportunity to formally recognize deputies who quietly and consistently go above and beyond. In this case, I firmly believe Deputy B. Taylor deserves recognition for her outstanding job performance and respectfully submit this nomination for Deputy of the Month – May 2025.
