Richard Gere waved his middle finger at Savannah Guthrie on the “Today” show, after she censored a clip from his new series that included a middle digit.
Gere was promoting his new espionage thriller “The Agency,” and “Today” showed a clip from the Paramount+/Showtime series on their screen. The show cut the scene off right before Gere’s character made the gesture, and he reacted by completing the scene just as it cut off at that moment.
Guthrie responded, “You just did an obscene gesture on this family morning show!”
“I’m bleeping you!”
Gere raised his middle finger just one day after Cher appeared on the NBC show and swore without warning.
He said, “You know, Cher was on here doing an F-bomb yesterday so I don’t know what’s happening!”
“You didn’t show but that’s what I did in the piece!”
“That’s what the clip was!”
Guthrie reiterated her position.
“That’s what the clip was but we cut that part out. But then you did it live!”
